I’ve spent the last five years watching the B2B XR industry evolve, and if you’re an innovation leader or enterprise decision-maker who’s been following this space, you know it’s been quite a journey. Today, we’re sharing news that’s both challenging and exciting: XR Today is finding a new home within UC Today, our unified communications and collaboration publication. If you’ve been tracking workplace technology adoption or trying to figure out where immersive tech fits in your digital transformation strategy, this move actually makes perfect sense, and here’s why.

The Reality of XR Market Adoption

Since launching XR Today in 2020, we set out to fill a critical gap in B2B technology media. Our mission was straightforward: provide industry professionals with comprehensive coverage of virtual, mixed, and augmented reality while helping enterprises identify opportunities to innovate and differentiate through immersive technologies.

We witnessed the meteoric rise of the metaverse and its bold promises to deliver entirely new worlds for living, working, and playing. However, the technology wasn’t quite there yet. Whilst XR performs well in specialized use cases, its broader workplace adoption is still unfolding gradually.

A Strategic Consolidation, Not a Goodbye

This isn’t an ending. Rather, it’s a strategic evolution that positions our immersive technology coverage where it belongs: within the broader employee experience technology ecosystem.

UC Today will continue expanding its coverage across the technologies that connect people better in the workplace. This includes driving improved employee experiences, engagement, collaboration, and communication. As we enter an era powered by AI and intelligent experiences, having immersive technology coverage integrated with unified communications, customer experience, and workplace technology makes strategic sense.

XR Today isn’t disappearing—it’s gaining a more comprehensive platform from which to cover the intersection of immersive technology and enterprise innovation

The Next Chapter for Immersive Technology Coverage

As we observe the rise of smart glasses and augmented reality, along with continued opportunities in virtual and mixed reality for enterprise applications, we’re positioned to provide even more integrated coverage. From 1st January 2026, you’ll find immersive technology news covering the entire XR ecosystem at uctoday.com.

This consolidation allows us to explore how immersive technologies complement and enhance the broader workplace technology stack. Whether it’s AR-assisted remote support, VR training environments, or mixed reality collaboration tools, these innovations are part of a larger digital workplace transformation.

Gratitude and Looking Forward

To our loyal XR audience and community: thank you for five years of engagement, feedback, and support. To our vendors and partners: your commitment kept the lights on during challenging times. To our team: your dedication to quality journalism in a rapidly evolving space has been remarkable.

This tactical move reflects the realities of today’s media landscape. Between the creator economy, AI-driven content, and the challenges of sustaining specialized publications, consolidation allows us to survive and thrive while delivering better value to our readers.

As we head into 2026, the B2B technology world stands at the threshold of the intelligence era. I’m excited to continue exploring these innovations with you, now with an even broader lens on how they connect, complement, and enhance each other.

The future of work isn’t just virtual, augmented, or mixed—it’s intelligently integrated.
