At Today Digital we’re bucking the trend of digital publishers struggling to navigate the changing marketplace, and are hunting for a talented, experienced editor to help us continue to grow.

Are you passionate about telling stories that shape the B2B technology landscape? Following three years of strong growth and with big plans to build on this, we’re looking for a talented Head of Publication to join and help lead our team of journalists and storytellers to inform, educate and engage our audience of technology decision-makers and professionals around the world.

Role Purpose: 

Heads of Publication at Today Digital are responsible for shaping the strategic direction of their publication and leading its editorial content and team. This role will drive the growth of the publication by developing compelling content strategies, building relationships with key stakeholders, and collaborating with the Today Digital Commercial and Marketing teams to enhance growth opportunities.  

The Head of Publication will ensure their publication remains a trusted source of valuable insights and news for its B2B audiences – vendors, buyers, and channel partners – across our key B2B technology focus areas: UC (Unified Communications & Collaboration), CX (Customer Experience), and related technologies and business issues (e.g. XR, AI, ERP, cybersecurity, digital transformation, productivity, innovation, etc.).

Head of Publication – Key Responsibilities: 

  • Content & Editorial Management:
    • Lead the publication’s editorial team in creating high-quality, engaging, and timely content, campaigns and projects.
    • Ensure all content aligns with audience needs and covers the latest tech trends, technologies, and best practices.
    • Oversee editorial planning and manage content calendars.
    • Set the standard by producing your own editorial and commercial content.
  • Strategic Leadership:
    • Position the brand as a leading authority within its respective space.
    • Develop and implement a growth strategy that aligns with the brand’s business objectives and audiences’ needs.
    • Build and maintain media partnerships and strategic relationships to expand reach and visibility.
    • Collaborate with senior leadership to identify and pursue new market opportunities.
  • Customer & Industry Engagement:
    • Represent the brand at industry events, conferences, and forums to strengthen its presence and influence.
    • Build and maintain relationships with key industry stakeholders, thought leaders, and high-value customers.
  • Revenue & Commercial Collaboration:
    • Work closely with the commercial team to identify revenue-generating opportunities through content offerings such as sponsored articles, custom reports, and special publications.
    • Monitor revenue and retention performance and adjust strategies to meet our targets.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead, mentor, and develop the editorial team for your brand, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
    • Provide guidance on content creation, editorial standards, and audience engagement strategies.
    • Work with external contributors to collaborate with us on projects and campaigns.
  • Performance Monitoring & Reporting:
    • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to audience growth, engagement, and revenue.
    • Report regularly on the publication’s performance to senior management, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.

Key Skills & Qualifications: 

  • Proven experience in a senior editorial or content strategy role, ideally within B2B publishing.
  • Strong understanding of the needs and concerns of B2B tech buyers.
  • Good understanding of the B2B tech industry, including key trends and challenges – ideally including familiarity with the UC&C and/or CX tech space and key players.
  • Demonstrable ability to drive growth, innovation, and revenue for a publication.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to build relationships with industry leaders, stakeholders, and customers.
  • Experienced and confident interviewer and panel moderator, comfortable being on camera.
  • Data-driven mindset, with experience using analytics to guide content strategy.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
